Every year Gujarat Orthopaedic Association embarks upon its social responsibility to spread awareness among the community about relevant practical issues. This is done on and around 4th August- the occasion of Bone and Joint Day for India. This is always based on the theme provided by our parent body Indian Orthopaedic Association.
This year the theme was Traffic Awareness especially with regards to 3 significant aspects-
(1) Helmets ⛑️ for two wheelers
(2) Seat belts for 4 wheelers
(3) Avoid drink and drive
Additionally we also took up two more important features-
(1) Don’t use mobiles while driving
(2) Avoid jumping red lights at traffic
GOA Executive committee member Dr. Narendra Parmar was designated coordinator for this activity. He created an informative and simple PowerPoint presentation for awareness amongst various schools and colleges- our prime concern- the young generation who can make a difference.
Orthopaedic Society of Rajkot( OSR) led the way with 3 programs in schools and colleges.
North Gujarat Orthopaedic Association
(NGOA) also equalled the buzz with 3 events in schools and colleges. Bharuch- Ankleshwar Orthopedic Association performed 2 activities in 2 different institutions.
Baroda Orthopedic Association, South Gujarat Orthopaedic Association, Bhavnagar Orthopedic Society and Kheda- Anand Orthopedic Association as well as Vapi Valsad Orthopedic Forum— all these regional/ city organisation leaders rallied with members to have 1 program each in their zone. Last but not the least, the Ahmedabad Orthopaedic Society conducted a unique Cycle Rally Awareness Drive on Sabarmati Riverfront promenade as a part of propaganda to promote traffic awareness.
We, the office bearers and EC of GOA appreciate and applaud the sincere and meticulous commitment of our friends, colleagues and partners who performed their duties with consistency and credibility. It is indeed commendable and fulfilling to achieve this kind of cooperation and coordination from all our members.
Big thank you to all the marvellous leaders and members who have rendered ardent yeoman service to meet the goals set by IOA and GOA. You are the stars. You rock! You make us bigger, better and more beautiful.
We also convey our heartfelt gratitude to IOA stalwarts and the office bearers of CSRC (Centre State Relations Committee) for constant guidance and support for these activities.
