REPORT OF HIP AND KNEE PRESERVATION SEMINAR @AHMEDABAD

On 13th October, Gujarat Orthopaedic Association organised a unique seminar on Hip and Knee Preservation with traditional and innovative osteotomies and other procedures.

This seminar was headed by the President Elect of GOA- Dr. Dinesh Thakkar who has been conducting and organising workshops and seminars on HTO for a few years in Gujarat in his capacity as past Vice Chairman of Knee Preservation Committee of Indian Orthopaedic Association.

The seminar was organised at Dr. Jivraj Mehta Medical Smarak Health Foundation- Bakeri Centre in Ahmedabad. It was well attended by more than 70 members.

It was a privilege to have the doyen amongst gems, Dr. Narender Magu sir, an icon and legend of Hip Osteotomy as our main faculty. His legacy and teachings of Hip Osteotomies were a treat to listen and assimilate. It was indeed a pleasure and honour to imbibe the principles and implementation of various strategies and procedures for hip and knee preservation from established and devoted teachers like Dr. Jyotindra Pandit sir, Dr. Yogesh Parikh sir and Dr. Jawahar Jethwa sir. Of course, Dr. Dinesh Thakkar himself, an ardent and devout proponent of HTO also shared his views and opinions on his favourite subject. Dr. Samir Shah from Vadodara and Dr. Ramesh Patel from Palanpur were the other notable speakers.

It was an excellently planned, compact and comprehensive learning module with adequate opportunities to interact and have practical case based engagements. Truly worth applause and accolades. It certainly deserves an encore every year.
